House Bill 1220

AN ACT TO REQUIRE ALL VEHICLES OPERATED BY PUBLIC CONTRACTORS TO HAVE PAINTED OR AFFIXED THEREON BY SIGNS, DECALS OR OTHER MEANS, IDENTIFICATION OF THE NAME, LICENSE NUMBER AND PHONE NUMBER OF THE CONTRACTOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. All contractors, as defined in Section 31-3-1, with vehicles used for commercial purposes and operated or transported on the highways of this state shall have inscribed, painted, stenciled or affixed by means of magnetic plastic signs, decals or other secured signs located on the outside of the driver's and passenger's doors, the name or trade name, license number and phone number of the contractor. The size of the signs or decals shall be two hundred twenty-five (225) square inches.

SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall be codified in Chapter 7 of Title 63, Mississippi Code of 1972.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and shall be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
